Changes to mechanics of detection by Planes
A lot of people (myself included) have been suggesting almost this exact change to the spotting mechanics of CV planes to try to limit how effective their spotting is. Spotting is still risk-free, and more and more people (again, myself included) are getting better at blind firing into smoke and through storms, but something like this is still a needed change, so I hope it makes it to the live servers.
In other WoWs news, I was only trying to get as many shadow lurker camos and commander xp as I could before the Black Friday event ended yesterday. I would have been happy with an extra 40 or so, but something really stupid and wonderful happened instead.
Yoshino, Loyang, and Sims. That’s a ton of money saved for an admittedly fair chunk spent. The Yoshino alone would have been over a $100 by itself. I spent half that. I said at least a couple of times I wouldn’t be getting the Yoshino B even though I really wanted it. It didn’t once cross my mind that it could drop in the crates.
I only got 21 shadow lurkers though so clearly this is a tragedy.
War Thunder
Unless I want to do a fun little test flight or shoot up some targets in a cruiser, I just don’t have the time or the motivation to play War Thunder these days. It’d help if I had friends that play it regularly, or some vague obligation to be on there, but as things stand it’s just the rare test flight.
I think Gaijin has my number, though. First Prinz Eugen, then USS Helena, now the friggin’ Scharnhorst?

Final Fantasy XIV Online: Endwalker Early Access
Early access for Endwalker has started. This has nothing to do with me, but I do play the game, so I figured I’d mention it here on the blog. I’ve still got to trudge my way up through A Realm Reborn, something I don’t really have much time to do. It’ll probably be sometime in the summer when I’m actually poking around with Endwalker’s story, and that’s an optimistic estimate.
One more thing: Since the War Thunder segment is right above this one, I’d like to point out that the name of my FFXIV main is Urban Scharnhorst.
Fleeing Victory #13
This weekend’s going to be busier than I’d like, but if I can find a big enough window on Sunday, that’s when #13 should be up.
Like before and pretty much every four chapters, there’s a new perspective character for FV#13-15. #16, too, but that’s not coming out this year.
