When a headache spirals into something really unusual. I’m still alive, so that’s all that matters. I don’t have anything for this evening, though. It’s impossible to really hone in and focus on things. I’m not sure if I’ll be good to go by tomorrow, but here’s hoping.

A Slight Pivot

Well that situation I’ve been constantly alluding to isn’t quite resolved yet, so I think it’s best if I split my focus again. Not too much, but enough to not feel completely stonewalled when things like this come up.

For starters, I’m going to take another pass at Lydia’s Golden Treasury this week and see if I can’t do a bit more editing on the first chapter. Whether that works out or not, I should have shifted gears enough to be able to get the ball rolling on chapter 2 again.

That’s about it for today. I’m too drained for a bigger post.

Angry Ryujo Noises

I can’t remember the last time I just sat down and worked on something for fun. Youtube threw a copyright check at me at the last second so I couldn’t publish it there without muting half the video.

M.A.S.S. Builder: New Poses for Photograph Mode

It’s not gameplay related, but this is my kind of update. Long before I realized it was important to make things that actually matter, I spent a lot of time working with (read: fighting with) games like Gundam Breaker to get shots of ‘cool builds.’

I really appreciate a dev team that can actually be bothered to keep adding even tiny useful features like this, because it makes the whole game better in its own way; remember, a good game–just like the M.A.S.S. themselves, is more than the sum of its parts.

Taking the Weekend

It never seems like much at first, but the frustration’s really starting to get to me.

There’s always going to be resistance when you’re working toward something important, but I just can’t stand it when I put most of my focus on something only for the situation to be taken completely out of my hands for seemingly no reason.

I’m not at this stage yet, but …

I’m going to try to regroup this weekend. Basically relax, do a lot of reading and a bit of research on the side. I’ll let my mind sort these scheduling and project problems out in the background.

If the situation’s going to stay like this, then I’ll focus my attention somewhere else. Probably around Monday I should have a good idea of how I’m going to use the rest of this month.

May’s Book

All the books I ordered are here now: Dark Force Rising, The Last Command, Dune, and Worlds in Collision. I wish they were in slightly better condition, but I needed a deal. I’ll get newer copies later.

So I did some thinking and I’ve decided to read Dark Force Rising next. I was going to read Dune first but I don’t know how much of a plunge I’m going to need to take to finish it by the end of the month. I’m falling behind on some things (things I can’t control from my end) and since I’ve already read Dark Force Rising before, I’m not going to have my first impression ruined by external factors. It could be even worse in June but I’m hoping it’s not.

In the meantime, I’ve got to figure out some way to salvage a different situation before I get set back two weeks. It’s looking more and more likely by the day.

Space Engineers: Looks

I wish I didn’t have to write this while I’m so frustrated, but time waits for no one. Oddly enough that’s actually the problem. More on that later, though. This is another Hipper post.

Since I don’t have any major structural changes left to make–fingers crossed–I’m honing in on the Admiral Hipper’s final color scheme. It’s basically a few muted blues with orange accents all over the place. I eliminated the ‘dull white’ linings and the nose gradient for something sharper and a bit closer to the rest of the blues on the lower hull.

I darkened the lower hull to make the whole thing look a bit less ‘animated,’ but it was so unsaturated to begin with that it almost looks like the game’s base gray now. I might wind up changing it again. A dark blue over slightly lighter blue could work, but if the contrast isn’t heavy enough it won’t have the effect I’m going for.

As an aside, I’d love it if she could have more weapons and functionality to go with her look, but 62k PCU and ~13k total blocks (without accounting for the Messers/Riders) is a lot.

So the ship’s very close to finished now. Ignoring a few things I would have to duplicate later on, I could on the first sister ship Blücher. I think it’d be a better idea to try to rebuild the Heinrich first, though. That and build at least one ship from one of the other factions. I need to get the styles nailed down sooner rather than later.

Hallo Mond!

Well that’s all for now. I should have a few bits of unrelated news up by this time tomorrow.
