Clan Battles 9/4

That went exceptionally well. We not only had an 8/4 win/loss ratio, we had two separate divs running a couple of hours in. I had to call for the WPA div, so I’m surprised we won as often as we did. We had some very close matches though, with everyone pulling a win out of their hat at least once. Very fun, even though it was pretty stressful at points.

I was maining the Baltimore for the most part.

The update’s right around the corner so tomorrow I’m going to be recording all the replays I’ve gotten since 11.7 went live. Including operations that’s twenty replays, so it’ll take about four hours to record them all. After that I’m going to have to look into trimming down the fat in my storage folders because all these HD recordings take up a huge amount of harddrive space.

M.A.S.S. Builder: Multiplayer Mode OST Preview

This was a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t expecting any news on the OST until well after 0.9.0 released.

Overall I think they’re pretty good. They certainly fit the tone and atmosphere of the game.

Finalizing the Hipper

We’re in the final stretch. It’s that phase of development where you’re not even sure what to do anymore, you’re just running around tweaking every little thing, critiquing things that don’t need it (particularly colors). It’s a bit frustrating but it’s also nice to see the Hipper so close to completion after two other failed hulls.

Well … two that I distinctly remember.

It’s been a long journey.

Hot on Hipper’s heels is the Type 34 destroyer I’ve also been chipping away at in my spare time. I’ll post more on that when the Hipper’s finished. It should be sometime next week. By then I’ll be getting footage for a preview video.

A Preview Needs Making (Hipper)

The Admiral Hipper is nearly done–I’ll update the progress bar tomorrow. That means I’ve got to figure out how I want to handle the fighter complement as well as what constitutes ‘standard features’ of a Hipper class ship in the Kaiser faction.

As for the title of this post, I also want to take the opportunity to make a preview video, kind of like I did for an older version of the Prinz Heinrich. That wasn’t a very big ship, though, so this could be difficult. In fact I might just have to make it more cinematic instead of giving a tour of the entire ship.

Could be fun, but either way, that’s something I want to make major progress on next week.

To the Next

I finished up Spice and Wolf Volume 2 early in the afternoon. Very good read. Unfortunately I can’t start on Volume 3 for September since I didn’t get around to ordering it .. budget’s kind of tight right now. So next month, in addition to chipping away at Dune, is the first Legacy of the Force book, Betrayal. I never looked at any reviews for these books so I’m going in blind.

As for Clan Battles, it was okay, not a huge string of losses or anything. I stopped playing early because I’m tired and I’d rather get an early start on some other things. Fortunately there were enough people to fill in.

Anyway, that’s it for August. Onto the next month.

Slowdown

The site’s really been chugging lately, not just the front end, the back end has been just as sluggish lately. Sometime this week I’m going to do a deep dive to try and smooth things out again. I was actually planning to do a visual overhaul of the entire site in September anyway, so this can just be a part of that process.

Wrapping Up August

Well here we are, two days to go and then the whole month of September stretches out in front of me. There’s a lot of unfinished stuff I’ll need to catch up on so that’s going to be the focus for next month, particularly the Lyre of Binding chapter from Lydia’s Golden Treasury. I was making progress but I hit a small snag in the story and I’m trying to iron it out again.

That’s it, really. It’s just going to be one long game of catch up.

Well actually there is one other thing, but there isn’t a lot I can say about it before I hear back from them. Could be really good, though. We’ll see.
