Lydia’s Golden Treasury has four chapters left. Save for the last chapter, the chronology between them isn’t quite resolved. It’s actually always been this way. The only reason the Armor of the Unburdened is the first chapter is because the concept of that chapter was the most fleshed out when I started. All I had to do was couch the incident in Enya’s first day on the job/orientation.
The Atoning Mirror and the Emancipating Blade were in the same boat. They could have swapped places and only a few details would have to change. Frankly, I might have even been happier with Emancipating Blade being the fourth or fifth chapter.
I’m bringing all that up to say that ordering the chapters becomes more and more difficult as things become more fleshed out. Once a chapter goes up, the events and the little details sprinkled throughout carry over. I don’t try to write my characters back to where they started to be ready for the next ‘episode.’ LGT is episodic, but the developments in it are extremely important to the setting as a whole. It’s not something I can write casually.
Anyway, here’s a bit of sneak peak of what’s coming up.
The Chronicles of Proxima
The Class Array
The Golden Ticket
Eisenwolf
These are the titles of the four remaining chapters and the likely order they’ll show up in. Save for Eisenwolf, nothing’s set in stone, but I’ve been leaning strongly toward this. We’ll at least know what’s up later in the month when I decide whether or not to do Chronicles or Class Array and actually start writing.
That and Fleeing Victory are basically what’s on my mind today, so I thought I’d share that.

World of Warships
I’ve been hoping and waiting for this kind of update for ages.
Changes to mechanics of detection by Planes
A lot of people (myself included) have been suggesting almost this exact change to the spotting mechanics of CV planes to try to limit how effective their spotting is. Spotting is still risk-free, and more and more people (again, myself included) are getting better at blind firing into smoke and through storms, but something like this is still a needed change, so I hope it makes it to the live servers.
In other WoWs news, I was only trying to get as many shadow lurker camos and commander xp as I could before the Black Friday event ended yesterday. I would have been happy with an extra 40 or so, but something really stupid and wonderful happened instead.
BFx10 Crates
Yoshino, Loyang, and Sims. That’s a ton of money saved for an admittedly fair chunk spent. The Yoshino alone would have been over a $100 by itself. I spent half that. I said at least a couple of times I wouldn’t be getting the Yoshino B even though I really wanted it. It didn’t once cross my mind that it could drop in the crates.
I only got 21 shadow lurkers though so clearly this is a tragedy.
War Thunder
Unless I want to do a fun little test flight or shoot up some targets in a cruiser, I just don’t have the time or the motivation to play War Thunder these days. It’d help if I had friends that play it regularly, or some vague obligation to be on there, but as things stand it’s just the rare test flight.
I think Gaijin has my number, though. First Prinz Eugen, then USS Helena, now the friggin’ Scharnhorst?
Send help.
Final Fantasy XIV Online: Endwalker Early Access
Early access for Endwalker has started. This has nothing to do with me, but I do play the game, so I figured I’d mention it here on the blog. I’ve still got to trudge my way up through A Realm Reborn, something I don’t really have much time to do. It’ll probably be sometime in the summer when I’m actually poking around with Endwalker’s story, and that’s an optimistic estimate.
One more thing: Since the War Thunder segment is right above this one, I’d like to point out that the name of my FFXIV main is Urban Scharnhorst.
Fleeing Victory #13
This weekend’s going to be busier than I’d like, but if I can find a big enough window on Sunday, that’s when #13 should be up.
Like before and pretty much every four chapters, there’s a new perspective character for FV#13-15. #16, too, but that’s not coming out this year.
That’s all for now.
by Phoenix | Dec 2, 2021 | Journal, Site, ZAP
It’s been a quiet day so the blog’s likewise going to be pretty quiet.
Site and Writing
I’m planning a few moves over the next couple of months so most of today was spent on soft research. The hard stuff doesn’t come until later. A few more days this month are going to be like this since I want to hit the ground running in 2022, that or at least not trip. I’ve got more ideas for the site as far as its look and how everything is arranged, but I’m not a programmer (yet) and changes need to happen incrementally. I need to make sure what I’ve got works well for as many people visiting as possible before adding more. That’s also partly what the research is for.
Becoming a Resource
While the ZAP project is my main focus and the purpose of the Praedian Records, I’d still like the site to serve as a resource for others to come and use for their own needs. The trouble has always been what type of resource I want to be. It’s one thing to write to tutorials for things I’ve recently mastered and just post those, but that would wind up being too broad and shallow to promote what I’m doing.
I’m still trying to find a good niche, something that fits me well enough that I can write about it constantly. I’ve got plenty of ideas, always have, but honing in on the best ones is extremely difficult. I’m getting close to just experimenting and seeing what drives the most interest. That’s what 2022 is ultimately about. The site’s quiet right now and visitors are few, but that was for a purpose and starting in 2022 we won’t be operating in stealth mode ever again.
That’s all for now.

That was an interesting bout of Clan Battles. Overall we did well. As a nice little bonus, we even got some more useful insights.
I’ve been playing Yamato all season so far and it’s been fantastic. I’ve never enjoyed the game this much. There are a few frustrating bits, but overall it’s a great fit for me.
I’ll go into more details about this kind of stuff at a later date, preferably once World of Warships is a more prominent theme on the blog, not just something I occasionally talk about. For tonight I’m just posting this tidbit so something’s posted. I’ll make things more interesting tomorrow.
by Phoenix | Nov 30, 2021 | Aeon, Frame Ops, FV, Journal, LGT, Pinned
I’m spent. Nothing else is getting done today, and believe me, I tried. My mind is just spent after yesterday.
Results for November:
- LGT: Emancipating Blade 1st Draft
- FV#s 7-12
- Zavodia Map: Finish base terrain
- Aeon Economic Research
- Frame Ops Main Outline
- Artorius Outline
I nearly sabotaged myself with the Zavodia Map goal. When I updated the goals in a more recent post, I was focused on the mountain peaks, but the original goal was about the base terrain only, not the mountains. Since the original goal is what I count, not misinterpretations further down the line, this goal was met. It’s just too bad the base terrain was never supposed to look pretty on its own.
It’s funny nearly writing off a goal and then realizing you already did it. I’ll try to get a map update this week once I’m further along.
Where I completely dropped the ball was with Aeon’s Economic Research. There wasn’t even a modest attempt to cover that one this month. Going forward I’m considering not having more than four separate goals lined up. There are four weeks and some change in a month, so four unique goals makes the most sense to me.
I got close to outlining Artorius but with the way the story was set up initially, there are a lot of events that can be shuffled around all over the place. Settling on a specific order when I wasn’t planning on getting back to writing the story this month wasn’t the best idea. More over, Aeon’s Economy and the Artorius story are closely related. There was enough overlap due to the story that not finishing one was going to hamper the other. At least with Frame Ops, the way the Jovian economy functions doesn’t directly impact anything, at least not noticeably. With Artorius, the economy is in your face. That’s part of the reason I made it one of my November goals. I need to rethink that one.
With that, it’s time for the next list.
Goals for December:
- LGT: Chapter 4 (The planned chapters are being reordered so no official title yet)
- FV#s 13-15
- Zavodia Map: Water Paths (Includes lakes, rivers, etc)
- Two Blog Articles (I’ll explain this more in a subsequent post)
That’s all for now.
