It was definitely later than expected, but melee customization’s going to be a whole lot better going forward. I started thinking up a few random designs the moment I saw the base parts.

This guy is clearly a freight train in quark form. Let’s just call it now: he’s going to have a charge attack that hurls him clear across the arena following a thick orange aoe marker that spawns right under the player’s M.A.S.S.
Classic. Simple. I think I’ll like it. We’ll see.

VD’s calling it a new gameplay mechanic, but …
It looks cool, granted, but isn’t this giant crystal shooting crystal just a big turret? New look and scale, yeah, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a new mechanic. Maybe it’s indestructible? That would warrant being called a stage hazard. Even then, we’ve had indestructible turrets in the past, whole batches of them. This crystal tower looks a lot more dangerous though.
They said it was just a glimpse so there’s probably more to this, and regardless, I’m liking the new visuals so far.

I have to admit straight away that, at first blush, this is the most generic looking boss quark I’ve seen in a long time.
That might not be a bad thing, though, especially if they’re mixing old and new mechanics for a greater challenge.
One thing I like about this one are the proportions; it’s pretty obvious what he’s about in combat, and the legs look sturdy enough to support the rest of the body while he’s beating the player senseless with those freight train fists.
7/10, would fight.
M.A.S.S. Builder: WIP 0.10.0 New Enemy Gameplay
I look at these new flying accessory packs as the halfway point between fighting other M.A.S.S. units and fighting stationary turrets. That’s definitely a gap that needed filling and their attacks look nice too. The missile from the helicopter drone could use some tweaks, though.
I just don’t think missiles should be sidestepped that easily. It’s Ace Combat levels of lethargy for missiles to miss a target cranking them at that range.
But yeah other than that, these drones look better in action. I’m looking forward to getting back into the game proper at some point, maybe in September or so? After I’ve got more time and the Armored Core 6 hype has tapered off a little.
Oh who am I kidding, that’s going to take months, not weeks.
We’ll see. Either way the game’s going to be fresh since I lost my old data and have to start from scratch.
M.A.S.S. Builder: WIP Quark Model Improvement Part 2
It’s more of the usual, but this swiping menace is one of the more annoying ones whenever I ‘deign to melee.’
I saw someone in the Steam page comments suggest pointing the spiked knuckles forward to make it look more deadly but I kind of disagree. This is a punching enemy, so I view the spikes as natural brass knuckles, not claws. Also, this guy’s backhand would be absolutely devastating either way.

M.A.S.S. Builder: WIP New Mission Sneak Peek Part 4
Man … it’s stages like this that remind me just how wrecked and barely inhabited the world is in the MB setting.
And people wonder why this game gets compared to Armored Core from almost every conceivable angle.
As for how I feel about the level itself, it looks pretty good for a player like me who prefers running and gunning. It doesn’t look like there’s a lot to get caught on while flying around and unloading on the mobs. I approve.
For this specific mission, players will be moving along ruins of a certain place, destroyed in the earlier days of the Quarks incident. Do you have any idea of it? Feel free to speculate.
